Sampo-Rosenlew Oy

History


It all started with a hub motor invented by Sisu Auto in 1959 to meet the need for such a motor in timber trucks operating in difficult conditions on Finnish forest tracks.

The Black Bruin hydraulic motor is a newer version of the hub motor, which first saw the light of day in the early 1980's. After several stages, production transferred to Valmet in 1987. In 1997 was new premises built in Jyväskylä municipality.

1950  Design of Hydraulic Motors starts by Finnish company Sisu Auto Oy
1960  First production series (SISU motors for forest trucks)
1970  Company Partek Oy buys the hydraulic motor production
1970  Launch of First Black Bruin motor (BB motor)
1987  Valmet Oy buys the Hydraulic Motor Unit from Partek Oy
1996  Valmet Hydraulics Oy is founded
1997  New premises are built in Jyväskylä municipality
2001  Company's name is changed to Metso Hydraulics Oy
2003  Sampo-Rosenlew Ltd. acquires Metso Hydraulics Oy and
           company’s name is changed to Sampo Hydraulics Ltd.
